A Jersey City Heights bar had their liquor license revoked last month after several violent incidents, according to the resolution approved by the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) board.

The board considered “nine counts of operating in a manner constituting a public nuisance” between April 3rd, 2021 and January 21st, 2024 against 512 Quantum Sound, the May 29th resolution says.
The second count against the Paterson Plank Road establishment alleges that on April 6th, 2022 “officers observed five to six people in front of the establishment screaming and attempting to be let back in the premises, while officers were investigating, they were informed that another brawl had broken out on the second floor, and while security had broken it up, patrons had excited the premises and began to fight again on the street.”
Four days later, outlined in count three, police responded to shots fired incident where eyewitnesses told law enforcement that the man had pointed his gun at a patron inside and outside the bar before being pistol whipped.
Before the end of the month, on April 27th, 2022, a woman trying to break up a fight was punched in the face by a man, causing fractures to both sides of her jaw, the fourth count against Quantum alleged.
Four of the five remaining counts, including the one early this year, also involved some kind of street fight, with only one of those police responses attributed solely to a noise complaint.
The resolution also notes that the Quantum owners did not attend the hearing, but citing state statute, the board proceeded and passed the measure.
Assistant Prosecutor Ryan Spain argued the case for the city and about 10 Jersey City police officers testified about their experiences responding to the night life spot, sources familiar with the situation told HCV.
What happens next remains unclear for the moment, since Quantum has advertised at least three events with a DJ, including one for this evening, on their Instagram page since May 29th. They also posted a video of waitresses serving bottles of alcohol on June 1st.
Quantum could not be reached for comment on Tuesday.
