“We overlook the incredible amount of pure energy and talent that women bring to our community. Their achievements and contributions to Jersey City are significant, and they do what they do with grace, but without much acknowledgment. This event aims to change that,” Watterman said in a statement.

Being honored at the “We Speak Her Name Gala” are Daniela Sarbu, Gail Marquis, Stacy Gemma, Gladys Jimenez, Dr. Lilitha Masson, Philomena Keller, and Sherry Singh.

Acclaimed WBGO radio curator, presenter, and dynamic vocalist Lezlie Harrison will serve as emcee for the evening.

The event will feature a diverse roster of artists sharing their unique talents, including DJ Midnite—best known for his open-format DJing and international turntable skills—celebrated pop/rock harpist and singer Erin Hill, who has delighted audiences around the world, and dancers from Shehnaaz Dance Academy, who create an immersive cultural experience through movement.

The event will take place on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at Hudson House, 2 Chapel Ave.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Women Rising, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women and families in the community.
