Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop has selected City Hall employee John Hanussak, who announced his intentions to seek the Ward C council seat years ago, to run on his ticket and oppose administration foe Rich Boggiano.

Fulop tweeted this afternoon that Hanussak, who work’s for the Jersey City Resident Response Center, was chosen due to round out the ticket due to “his record of constituent service.”

Hanussak launched a Facebook page indicating that he was running for council all the way back in January 2014, making it clear he planned to challenge Boggiano regardless of the circumstances.
Committeewoman Rekha Nandwani is also running in Ward C as an independent.
Fulop’s team now consists of Denise Ridley in Ward A, Mira Prinz-Arey in Ward B, Mo Kinberg in Ward D, Ward F Councilman Jermaine Robinson, as well as all three incumbents at-large: Rolando Lavarro, Daniel Rivera and Joyce Watterman.
