Identity of woman found in Hudson River ‘unknown at this time,’ authorities say

Jersey City police on Tuesday found a “badly decomposed” body of a woman floating in the Hudson River near Downtown, authorities said.

The identity of the woman, who was found just after noon on Tuesday, remains unknown to investigators, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

The cause and manner of her death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, authorities said.

Authorities pulled the body from the Hudson River near the Newport Marina.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office homicide unit is actively investigating, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor at 201-915-1345 or to leave an anonymous tip on the Prosecutor’s Office official website.
