UPDATED: Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office investigating late night fatal shooting in Jersey City

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, with aid from the Jersey City Police Department, is investigating a late night fatal shooting in Jersey City.

“The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and JCPD are investigating a fatal shooting that killed one man just before 11:30 pm last night on Princenton [sic] Avenue and Brown Place. More info to follow,” the HCPO tweeted early this morning.

At 10:39 a.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released more information.

On Monday, just before 11:00 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Princeton Avenue and Brown Place in Jersey.

Responding officers found a 23-year-old male victim – later identified as Emmanuel Garcia
– who had sustained gunshot wound(s) to his body and was transported to the Jersey City
Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 11:24 p.m.

The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical  Examiner’s Office.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case and no arrests have been made at this time.
