Hudson County cardiologist named director at Jersey City Medical Center

Hudson County cardiologist Dr. Raashan Williams has been named the new Medical Director of the Catheterization Laboratory at the Jersey City Medical Center.

“Without question, I am proud to welcome Dr. Williams into this role as he has been a strong presence and leader in Hudson County and has shepherded the care of thousands of patients in need of advanced cardiac care,” JCMC President and CEO Michael Prilutsky.

As medical director, Williams will set the direction of the Catheterization Laboratory in partnership with the hospital’s clinical and administrative leadership.

He will also focus on collaborating with internal and external providers to identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and change, and improving clinical technology and programs to continue the excellence in patient safety and outcomes.

Furthermore, Williams has been a staff member at the JCMC since 2007 and has led a large cardiology practice in the region for more than 15 years.

He earned a degree in medicine from Temple University School of Medicine and completed an internship and residency at New York Presbyterian (NYP) Hospital Cornell Medical Center, and a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Temple University Hospital, where he served as Chief Cardiology fellow.

He also completed an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at NYP Hospital Cornell Medical Center.
