Shortly after the first 911 calls were made on December 19th, Hoboken police arrested Elias Mercado, 18, of Kearny, who remains in the Hudson County Correctional Facility and faces multiple charges including criminal attempted murder.
Prior to his pedigree information being released, the Hoboken PD indicated that they had made an arrest and that more police officers were present at local schools as a precaution, as HCV first reported.
A follow-up investigation by the Hoboken PD’s Street Crimes Unit, led by Det. Sgt. William Collins, resulted in the identification of two other individuals wanted in connection with the incident.
Criminal complaints have been issued for their arrests, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
As the investigation continues, HPD is working to identify three additional persons of interest, who fled the scene after Mercado fired the shots.
Anyone with information about the individuals pictured above, including their identities, is urged to email Det. Connor Milne at Milnec@hobokenpdnj.gov or call 201-420-2100 ext. 3126.
