“I pledged to build my administration to mirror the diversity, talent, and potential of New Jersey, and my transition will be no different. Our co-chairs boast a rich diversity of both background and experiences, of valuable government experience and unique outside perspectives,” Murphy said in a statement.

“To a person, this transition is full of incredible talent and experience, and I’m thrilled to see them serve. Together, we’ll start the difficult job of building a stronger, fairer economy that works for all nine million New Jerseyans.”

Zimmer being part of the Murphy’s transition team isn’t a huge surprise, given that she has been one of the governor-elect’s closest political allies in recent years.

Back in October 2016, Zimmer and Murphy, both Democrats, hosted a meet and greet in Hoboken, where various political circles united and voiced their dissatisfaction with Gov Chris Christie (R).

Then in April, Murphy and various Hudson County Democrats joined forces to bolster Zimmer’s re-election bid, though that ended up being all for naught given that she decided not to seek a third term in June.

Additionally, a former Zimmer chief of staff, Daniel Bryan, was a constant presence on the campaign trail with Murphy dating back to 2016.

Given that Zimmer cited pursuing a career in the fight against climate change, as well as her history with flood preventative measures, some politicos speculated she would be part of the environment and energy committee.

  1. So not on the Environment committee? She gets the last position on the Growth committee! What a joke…
Maybe she’ll be able to learn from Camden how to run a city.
