Hoboken firefighters rescue mother, infant from overturned SUV near firehouse

Hoboken firefighters rescued a mother and her infant child from an overturned SUV that hit two parked vehicle just up the street from a firehouse.

The incident occurred on 8th Street, between Clinton and Grand Streets, around 12:30 p.m. and the mother and child were fortunate that a firehouse was just steps away at 801 Clinton St., according to an eyewitness at the scene.

The firefighters were successfully able to extricate both the driver and her child from the vehicle. Hoboken police officers and emergency medical services also responded to the scene, photos of the incident show.

Both victims were transported to the Jersey City Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

Furthermore, one of the parked cars struck by the SUV received minor damage, while the other needed to be towed by a flatbed truck.
