The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is investigating two fatalities in Jersey City: a woman found dead on Christopher Columbus Drive and a man found dead in the Hudson River, authorities said.

“The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating two fatalities – a female on Christopher Columbus Dr and a male in the Hudson River in Jersey City. More information to follow,” the law enforcement agency tweeted this morning.
At 12:41 p.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez provided more information.
On Sunday, April 26, 2020, the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of a
possible suicide attempt in the Hudson River near Montgomery Street, Suarez said in a statement.
Upon arrival, responding officers found an unresponsive male in the river near Montgomery Street and Exchange Place. The man, later identified as Man Mohan Mall, 37, of Jersey City was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 7:55 a.m.
Jersey City police officers also responded to his residence on Christopher Columbus Drive. Responding officers found an unresponsive female with apparent trauma to her upper body.
The female was identified as Garima Kothari, 35, who was also a resident at that
address. She was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 7:15 a.m.
The Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
While it appears at this time that these deaths are the result of a murder-suicide, the final determination is still pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
