The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the West New York Police Department are investigating a fatal stabbing on Murphy Place.

“The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the West New York Police Department are investigating the stabbing death of a woman on Murphy Place in West New York. More to follow,” the HCPO tweeted at 7:17 a.m.
The is the fourth homicide this year in Hudson County, in addition to a fatal stabbing in Harrison and two fatal shootings in Jersey City.
At 2:50 p.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released additional information.
At approximately 5:54 a.m. this morning, the West New York Police Department was notified of an injured person at 4914 Murphy Place. Responding officers located the lifeless body of a 24-year-old woman with apparent stab wound(s) and she was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:31 a.m.
The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to her next of kin. A person of interest is in custody at Hackensack University Medical Center.
This matter is being investigated as an act of domestic violence and additional information is not available at this time.
The HCPO Homicide Unit and the West New York Police Department are actively investigating this case.
