Harrison police investigating death of 30-year-old Hackensack man who was found in river

The Harrison Police Department is investigating the death of a 30-year-old Hackensack man whose body was found in the Passaic River on the 4th of July.

Yesterday at 4:55 p.m., the Harrison Police Department responded to the train bridge at the end of First St. on the report of a body in the water, according to Police Det. Sgt. Charles Schimpf.

Responding Harrison units were assisted by the Harrison Fire Department and New Jersey Transit Police Departments, Emergency Services Unit and responding units were able to recover the body from the water, officials said.

Authorities on the scene were able to identify the deceased male as a 30-year-old Hackensack resident, whose identity has not been released at this time.

The circumstances surrounding his death are currently unknown, there were no visible signs of injury and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
