A gun was recovered and three people were arrested after Hoboken police broke up a large group of people in the streets listening to loud music coming from a vehicle, Police Chief Kenneth Ferrante said.

Elijah Scott, Jr. 20, of Hoboken, Xavier Borges 19, of Jersey City, and a 16-year-old juvenile from Hoboken, were all charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a defaced firearm, according to Police Det. Lt. Danilo Cabrera.
Scott and Borges were also charged with endangering the welfare of the child, while the 16-year-old face an additional charge of possession of a firearm by a minor, authorities said.
Around 11:30 p.m., Sgt. Luke Zeszotarski, along with Officers Aviles, Seickendick, & Straten, went to break up a large group of people hanging out and listening to loud music coming from a vehicle near the intersection of 5th and Jackson Streets, Ferrante tweeted.
Zeszotarski was the first officer over to the car and observed the occupants acting nervous. While speaking with them and looking into the car, he observed a handgun on the rear floor, the chief explained.
Zeszotarski drew his weapon on the vehicle and he and the three officers safely got the three individuals out of the vehicle without further incident and recovered a .32 caliber revolver that was defaced with spray paint over the serial number.
Ferrante said that three people were arrested on weapons charges: a 16-year-old and a 20-year-old from Hoboken, as well as a 19-year-old from Jersey City.
