The Good Government Coalition of New Jersey endorsed Assemblywoman Barbara McCann Stamato in the 31s Legislative District, as well as Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez and Jersey City Ward D Councilman Yousef Saleh in the 32nd Legislative District.

“Voters deserve transparent leadership that puts the public’s right to know above political convenience,” McCann Stamato said in a statement.
“I’m proud to have stood strong against weakening OPRA and ballot reforms that reduce transparency. This endorsement from GGCNJ reflects our shared belief that government must be open, accountable, and driven by the needs of our communities.”
The three Hudson County elected officials are all running on Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s “Democrats for Change” gubernatorial ticket.
McCann Stamato is running with Bayonne 2nd Ward Councilwoman Jackie Weimmer against Assemblyman Will Sampson and Hudson County Commissioner Jerry Walker (D-3), who are supported by the Hudson County Democratic Organization.
The GGCNJ has not yet endorsed a second candidate in that race, though they opted to endorse two in the six-person field in LD-32 for the time being (they often announce endorsements in the same race at a later date).
“Every New Jerseyan should have a government that works for them — not behind closed doors,” added Ramirez.
“I’m honored to be recognized by the Good Government Coalition for standing up for voters and advocating for a fair, transparent process in every corner of our democracy.”
The main event-caliber June 10th Democratic primary in LD-32 also includes Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla and activist Katie Brennan bracketing together, with Jennie Pu and Crystal Fonseca backed by the HCDO.
“Trust in government starts with transparency and a willingness to be held accountable,” added Saleh.
“I’m proud to campaign as a Democrat for Change alongside Jessica, Barbara, and Mayor Fulop, and I’m grateful for GGCNJ’s endorsement of our mission to bring transparent leadership to Trenton.”
In the governor’s race, the GGCNJ endorsed Fulop, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, and longshot Republican candidate Hans Herberg.
