“Cianna Lee was a vibrant and loving young 15 yr old young girl, who was born in Jamaica. She moved to the United States to be with her father and to pursue greater opportunities for her future,” the GoFundMe page description says.
“On January 19th, Cianna’s life was tragically cut short when she was senselessly shot in her car after a celebratory dinner with her family. She was on her way home from dropping off a relative when this heartbreaking incident occurred.”
Lee was shot near the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Union Street at approximately 11 p.m. on Saturday, January 18th and she succumbed to her injuries at 1:20 a.m. the following morning, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.
Additionally, a 37-year-old female relative of Lee’s was shot as well, but she is in stable condition. No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
“Her family is devastated by this sudden and unimaginable loss. They are now faced with the overwhelming costs of planning her funeral,” the page description continues.
“We are asking for your support to help us honor Cianna’s life and provide her family with the means to give her the farewell she deserves. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference.”
As of 7:05 p.m. this evening, the online effort has raised $3,625 from 51 donors and has set a goal of $10,000.
