Fulop slams N.J. Democratic political machines as ‘lazy’ and ‘ineffective’

Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, who is running for governor, slammed New Jersey Democratic political machines as “lazy” and “ineffective” when discussing much closer than expected numbers in the Garden State between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

“For a year our campaign for Governor has focused on reforming the Democratic Party in NJ + we have been spot on. I have said time and again that the dem party in NJ is lazy, ineffective, and leadership has monetized positions for personal gain as opposed to growing the party,” he wrote in a lengthy post on X.

“Legislation after legislation in Trenton is self serving to manipulate and benefit a few – it creates apathy + unwillingness for local voters to trust them or no infrastructure they can rely upon. Voters aren’t stupid and voters see it. (Example sham ballot assembly hearings tomorrow with legislation already drafted outside of Judge’s ruling).”

While Vice President Kamala Harris (D) defeated former President Donald Trump in New Jersey yesterday, it was merely a 4.3 point victory, with Trump performing approximately 18 points better in Hudson County than he did in 2020.

Fulop, who in July felt that President Joe Biden (D) should have remained in the race against Trump instead of being replaced by Harris, indicated their should’ve been a primary before ending on a positive note.

“My second point which we have been spot on is that primaries are important. I have said this for a year but you can see it clearly here that it serves an important function to strengthen the party + the entire process around how the party swapped out Joe Biden was a mistake,” he continued.

“Third, and on the positive side Andy Kim will be an exceptional Senator for NJ. We should all be proud. What he has accomplished over the last year is remarkable .”

From Hudson County Democratic voters, Tuesday evening wasn’t a complete wash.

The U.S. representatives for the 8th, 9th, and 10th Congressional Districts, Rob Menendez, Nellie Pou, and LaMonica McIver, respectively, all Democrats, secured victories despite Harris having a much worse night than expected.

  1. Comming from a guy who has an owner of a non union construction company running the Board of Construction Appeals in Jersey City. You have let down the the Democratic party and Union Labor in New Jersey. It’s actions like yours that have alienated Union trades men and women from voting blue in the last few elections . Keep pointing your finger at everyone else. You’ll need the practice when you lose the gubernatorial primary
