Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, a Democratic candidate for governor, has rolled out three more state Assembly candidates in Legislative Districts 17, 25, and 38, bringing his overall total up to 23.

“These candidates are perfect examples of the kinds of community advocates and leaders we want to support, as we help candidates across New Jersey who share our values of breaking away from party boss politics and delivering the kind of progress that our state needs,” Fulop said in a statement.

“Competitive primaries are not only healthy for our Democratic Party, but it gives voters a real choice and encourages them to get more engaged in the process. We will continue to support candidates across New Jersey who share our values to bring real change to this state.”

Morristown Councilman Steve Pylypchuk previously chaired his local zoning board of adjustment and also previously served as a commissioner on the Morristown Environmental Commission. He will be running for Assembly in LD-25.

As the director of Civil Engineering at YU & Associates, Pylypchuk has managed infrastructure projects like the JFK Airport redevelopment and the Delta SkyWay at LaGuardia Airport.

He also worked as an on-the-ground design engineer for the Route 35 Reconstruction after Superstorm Sandy.

“When I ran for council, I highlighted the need for a transparent and accessible government that puts citizens first,” he stated.

“The people know their own needs better than anyone else, and accountable government is what we need to create the strong and inclusive community that our residents deserve.”

South Hackensack’s Donald Bonomo is the founding partner of the Law Offices of Perez and Bonomo LLC with a distinguished 25-year legal career, advocating for low-income families and helping them overcome financial burdens. He will run on Fulop’s ticket in LD-38.

He has earned numerous accolades, including the prestigious Equal Justice Medal for three consecutive years. He is also a former chairperson of the Legal Ethics Committee and is a commissioner on the South Hackensack Zoning Board.

Finally, in LD-17, nonprofit leader and advocate Loretta Rivers has over 20 years of experience in creating programs that improve the lives of underserved communities, most notably with Greater Middlesex & Morris Habitat for Humanity.

Rivers is an active member of the League of Women Voters’ New Brunswick Area Chapter, NAACP and the Middlesex Federation of Democratic Women.

Pylypchuk, Rivers, and Bonomo join Ron Arnau (D-40), Steve Barratt (D-24), Debra Di Donato (D-10), Vonetta Hawkins (D-4), Rosalee Keech (LD-9), Bruce Weekes (D-2), Brittany Claybrooks (D-34), Frank Vélez (D-34), Tamar Warburg (D-37), Daniel Park (D-37), Rashan Prailow (D-5), Rebecca Holloway (D-6), Kevin Ryan (D-6), Eddie Freeman III (LD-8), Assemblywoman Barbara McCann Stamato (D-31), Assemblyman John Allen, Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez (both D-32) and Assemblyman Julio Marenco (LD-33) in committing to run on Fulop’s ticket.

Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla running in place of Allen is a likely potential scenario, though neither has declared their plans for next year yet.

Additionally, Team Fulop also announced four county commissioner candidates who will run alongside the Jersey City mayor: former Palisades Park Mayor Chris Chung and state Senate candidate John Vitale, former Closter Councilwoman Dolores Witko – all in Bergen County – and in Somerset County, Veteran Affair Medical Doctor Dhaval Amin.

  1. We can’t stand him anymore in Hoboken. He’s failed the city on safety, raised taxes and delivered nothing in 8 years. Now he raising Palestinian flags in secret ceremonies at City Hall?!

Who does this clown think he is? Is this use of taxpayer resources even legal?
