“After more than 55 years in law enforcement, I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the challenges our departments continue to face. As a retired officer and president of FOP Lodge 46, I know real leadership when I see it — and that’s what James Davis brings,” FOP Lodge 46 President Dennis Shanahan said in a statement.

“He understands where we’ve been and has a clear vision for where we collectively need to go. He’s earned our trust, and he has the entire support of our 600 members of Lodge 46 to be the next Hudson County Sheriff.”

This is Davis’ eighth public safety endorsement in his effort to unseat Sheriff Frank Schillari.

He has the support of two firefighter and two police unions in Bayonne, the New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association (NJ FMBA), the Jersey City Police Superior Officers Association (PSOA), and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Superiors FOP Lodge 127.

Davis is running with the backing of the Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO), while Schillari is seeking a sixth term on Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s “Democrats for Change” gubernatorial slate.

Early voting is now underway through Sunday and polling locations can be found here.
