Family of Jersey City shooting victim seeking public’s help for funeral expenses

The family of one of the six Jersey City shooting victims, who leaves behind a wife and daughter, is seeking the public’s help to cover his funeral expenses.

“Douglas Rodriguez came to this country for better life with his wife and daughter. He was a devoted husband, friend, and father, He was a God-loving, honest and hard-working person was who always available to help others,” the GoFundMe page says.

“He had been working at the store for about a year before this devastating and unexpected loss. We would appreciate any help from the community to help his family cover funeral expenses.”

Rodriguez, also known as Miguel Douglas, was one of four civilians killed in Tuesday’s horrific act of gun violence. He was an employee at the Jersey City Kosher Supermarket where the majority of the shots were fired two days ago.

As of 11:15 a.m., 332 donors had contributed $12,695 towards their $30,000 goal.

The GoFundMe page for fallen Police Det. Joseph Seals, a husband and father of five, had already raised $223,000 as of 10:30 a.m. this morning.

The two shooters, who are also deceased, are “prime suspects” in the death of an Uber driver in Bayonne and law enforcement officials are set to disclose more details from the incident at a press conference today at noon.
