“James Solomon is the only change candidate in this race, and this successful quarter shows how fired up Jersey City is for his campaign. We saw the excitement when we kicked off in September with a line that went out the door and around the corner, and we see it today,” campaign manager Stuart Thomas said in a statement.

“With exactly 900 total donors from Jersey City, it’s easy to see that Jersey City is receptive to his message on creating affordable housing, lowering the cost of living, building livable streets, improving our schools, and bringing clean, ethical government to City Hall. James is the only candidate who can deliver on the promise of change, and from now until election day, we’ll be out reminding voters about that every single day.”

In his individual account, the downtown councilman hauled in $162,207, spent $26,051.89, and has $537,451.83 cash on hand, his January 15th New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (NJ ELEC) report shows.

Outgoing Assemblyman John Allen (D-32) donated $5,000, Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla, who is running to succeed Allen, contributed $1,000, former Jersey City council candidate Kevin Bing got involved at $3,650, and real estate agent Irene Barnaby gave $3,000.

The Light Group Founder/CEO Pat Light, a business partner of Allen, wrote a check for $5,000, while CLB Partners Partner Jonathan Boguchwal and Antonelli Cantor Rivera PC Shareholder/Partner Ramon Rivera – counsel to the Jersey City Board of Education – each gave $1,000.

Furthermore, Ziggy Rozalski, the owner of Ziggy’s Autobody in Jersey City, gave a max donation of $5,200 and political consultant Jason Solowsky contributed $4,000.

Solomon’s most notable expenditure was for Milburn-based fundraising company Ripple Effect Strategies, which received a total payment of $18,750.

While his council slate account only had eight donations, they were all for either $10,000, $25,000, or the maximum donation of $26,000, with his wife and other family members contributing to the cause.

Solomon has announced Michael Griffin and Mamta Singh as his running mates at-large, with Lorena Loayza running in Ward B, Veronica Akaezuwa seeking the Ward D seat, and Eleana Little looking to succeed him in Ward E.

His campaign also made it a point that since he announced in late September, Solomon and his team have raised over $805,000.

He is currently running in a field of five in the non-partisan November 4th mayoral contest.

Joining Solomon thus far are Council President Joyce Watterman, former Gov. Jim McGreevey, Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea (D-2), and ex-Board of Education President Mussab Ali.
