Diane Imus will be running on Hoboken 2nd Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher’s slate in the November 4th special election for the 6th Ward council seat to replace the late Jen Giattino, a choice that Joe Giattino supports.

“My commitment is to the people and neighborhoods of the 6th Ward. This is where my husband and I chose to raise our family. I understand what matters to our neighbors and I’m ready to step up and serve with the independence, responsiveness, and care our community deserves,” Imus said in a statement.
“Jen was a true friend to me and her community – the very definition of a public servant. Her example is what inspired me to run. I’m honored to continue the work she cared so deeply about, and to help carry forward her legacy of neighborhood-focused, common-sense leadership.”
Jen Giattino passed away suddenly at 53 years old back on Election Day, November 5th, 2024 and the remaining eight city council members opted not to appoint anyone to succeed her, both as HCV first reported.
For that reason, whoever wins the 6th Ward council race this fall will sit upon the dais immediately. As it stand now, Imus and Ryan Cunningham, who is on 3rd Ward Councilman Mike Russo’s ticket, are only candidates in the field.
“Jen believed deeply in service and community. While no one can fill her shoes, I know Diane shares that same spirit and will carry forward the work Jen cared so much about,” explained Joe Giattino, Jen’s husband.
Imus spent 28 years at Hoboken-based Wiley, leading global publishing events and overseeing multimillion-dollar budgets.
She has also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for youth in Hudson County’s foster system, was a member of the Hoboken Arts Advisory Board, and has spent many years volunteering in her children’s schools and advocating for open space.
Imus noted her campaign will focus on core quality-of-life issues that affect 6th Ward residents daily: Public and pedestrian safety, affordability, improved transportation options, fiscal responsibility, as well as better-maintained parks and public spaces.
“These are not political issues—they’re community priorities: I will work with anyone to get things done for Hoboken,” she added.
“Diane Imus has deep roots in the Sixth Ward, a heart for service, and the experience to lead effectively. She’s been a quiet force in our community for years—steadfast, thoughtful, and committed to making Hoboken better—and she’s stepping up because she cares deeply about our neighbors. I’m honored to have her join Team Fisher, and I know Jen would be proud to see her friend continue the work she loved,” noted Fisher.
She is the third running mate to team up with Fisher, a mayoral candidate, for the fall municipal elections.
That slate also includes Liz Urtecho and former Councilman-at-Large Dave Mello, who are both running for at-large seats at a time when all three are up for grabs.
I look at this picture and have to smile — what a team! Each of these folks is running for the right reasons — to do right by the people of this City. What a breath of fresh air…..

Exactly what Hoboken needs: competence, experience and a professional focus and execution to make the town better. Lots of work and the choices are critical.

This is easily the best council slate so far. You might be on a different “team” but all of these people are qualified to serve Hoboken – I can’t say the same about the others…

Fisher just lost the slim chance that she had in the 1st place of winning.
The conservatives in these comments glazing this ticket tells you everything about what these people are for.
They’ll all end up losing, same as when they all cursed Bhalla to the seventh circle of Hell in the comments sections during the primary and he still won.
The Hoboken of 30 years ago is dead and gone, it’s not coming back, all you’re doing is standing in the way of progress.
Just move to the Villages already.
Talk about white privilege, all these candidates are either in luxury condos they own or high end brownstones.
I mean three of the four candidates are in uptown Hoboken with no representation for the majority of Hoboken.
Even the sixth ward candidate, she lives on Castle Point Terrace which is all old Hoboken money and not representative of the rest of the sixth ward.

Fisher has that “Turban” comment and Mello well we all know about his “C” word issues…

CM Fisher has assembled a good team slate.
The usual online.negative posts from those few who understand she a very good chance of becoming the next Mayor of Hoboke.

Interesting since Hoboken forbids short term leases and if one has a daily renter, the per night rent can not exceed the legal rent
