The City of Hoboken has installed their two fastest electric vehicle charging stations on Newark Street between Grand and Adams Streets, officials said.

“Hoboken is committed to creating a sustainable future for our residents and these fast-charging stations will not only support our Climate Action Plan but also make it easier and more convenient for our community to embrace electric vehicles,” Mayor Ravi Bhalla said in a statement.
“We are proud to be at the forefront of environmental progress and we will continue to invest in infrastructure that promotes clean energy in Hoboken.”
These DC fast charging stations have a rating of 125 kW and can power most
EV batteries from 20 percent to 80 percent in approximately 30 minutes.
These new stations bring Hoboken’s total to 13 on-street charging stations, which have collectively supported over 14,600 charging sessions since 2021.
The installation of these fast charging stations is a significant step forward in Hoboken’s Climate Action Plan which established the City’s goals of achieving net-zero energy by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050.
In alignment with its sustainability targets, Hoboken is currently installing a network of charging stations to ensure that all residents are within a five-minute walk of a publicly accessible charging station by 2030.
To date, the city has installed 26 Level2 charging ports and eight DC fast charging ports.
The city is currently installing two additional fast charging stations at 6th and Washington Streets through a partnership with Volta and plans to install two more fast charging stations on Newark Street in 2025.
