On May 6th, Michael Mulcahy, 46, of Bayonne, was charged with charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (his car), possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, obstructing a governmental function and harassment, police said at the time.

Mulcahy was accused of getting into an altercation with Police Det. Roman Popowski, who was off duty, after he was taking pictures of his civilian vehicle, later allegedly striking him with his car twice as he fled the scene.

However, those charges were “administratively dismissed” on August 17th, Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Ray Worrall told Hudson County View.

Worrall did not have a specific reason(s) as to why the charges were dropped against Mulcahy, a former employee of the city Department of Municipal Services.
