Hoboken Assemblyman Carmelo Garcia sat down with Hudson County View to discuss the debacle that occurred last Wednesday outside the Hoboken Elks as more than a thousand waited through the cold and rain to apply for Section 8 housing vouchers.
Garcia started by discussing with how “heartbroken” he felt seeing people brave the harsh conditions for an opportunity to live in the Mile Square City.
Garcia, the former executive director of the Hoboken Housing Authority, spoke about what exactly the application process was for and what should be done to deal with the need for affordable housing within the city.
Finally, Garcia said the Zimmer Administration should be held responsible for the debacle. The Office of Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer declined to comment on this story.
