At approximately 7:57 p.m, officers responded to West 28th Street on a report of shots fired. The investigation confirmed that a 38-year-old man had been shot numerous times and was being treated at the Bayonne Medical Center, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

The shooter fled the scene prior to police arrival and Amato declined to comment further since the investigation is ongoing.

“This incident remains under investigation, therefore I will not comment on it in detail,” Amato explained.
