At 7:30 a.m. this morning, Bayonne police received a report that a bus driver was being assaulted by a man in the area of 54th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard, according to Police Lt. Eric Amato.

Officers immediately responded and located the 57-year-old man who was driving the bus. The victim stated that the passenger boarded the bus and he asked him where he was going to assure that he boarded the right bus.

After telling the aggressor that the bus was not going to Journal Square, the actor punched the driver in the nose before walking off the bus, authorities said.

The victim, realizing that the punch had caused a minor injury to his nose, exited the bus and attempted to apprehend and detain his attacker, but was unsuccessful. The aggressor first fled on foot to 55th Street, then east towards Avenue C, officials said.

This aggravated assault remains under investigation by the Bayonne Police Department Detective Bureau and the victim refused medical attention at the scene.
