The officers with their new ranks are Lt. David J. Conte, Lt. Michael T. Zajac, Sgt. Matthew Target III, Sgt. Julian Lewis, Sgt. William Dundas V, and Sgt. Antonio Spano.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Jimmy Davis, a retired police captain, congratulated the promoted officers on their “long journey” to their new ranks. He said to the new sergeants that it was now their turn to teach those officers who are on patrol.
Davis thanked the police families for their support and for allowing their loved ones to protect Bayonne.
“It is our job to give them the tools they need to return safely to their families,” he added.
Furthermore, Council President Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski, whose husband is a police officer, said it was “a proud day for the City of Bayonne and the Bayonne Police Department.”
She thanked the new lieutenants and sergeants for their “dedication, hard work, and sacrifices for the citizens of Bayonne and wished them all a successful career.
From there, Public Safety Director Robert Kubert said that the newly promoted officers “have proven themselves academically” and have “performed their duties admirably,” also thanking Davis and the council for their support.
