Yesterday at approximately 2:32 p.m., Capt. James Donovan was in the area of West 45th Street on a report of downed tree limbs in the roadway as a result of Isaias, according to Capt. Eric Amato.
While assessing the scene, a large limb for the affected tree dislodged and came crashing down onto Donovan, pinning him underneath it. As a result, he suffered a foot injury and was treated at the hospital, officials said.
Although the impact of Isaias was a bit more modest than some had expected, the severe weather caused dozens of downed trees, branches, and power lines.
Just after noon today, Gov. Phil Murphy (D) said that 977,000 households are still waiting for their power to be restored, which could take until Friday.
