The Bayonne Office of Emergency Management is reporting just 16 active COVID-19 cases citywide, as well as their second-related fatality this month.
Please see this week’s video message. I have asked the Chief of Police, Rob Geisler to update you this week. Please…
“Mayor Davis has advised us that an 82[-year-old] male Bayonne resident has recently passed away from coronavirus-related illness. The mayor extends his sympathy, on behalf of the entire city, to the family of our late neighbor,” OEM said yesterday.
According to the city’s emergency response agency, 1,338 Bayonne residents have tested positive for COVID-19 to date, with 76 fatalities. However, as of Thursday, there were only 16 active cases of the virus.
“The Bayonne Department of Health continues to advise residents that have recently taken a COVID-19 test to be sure to answer their phones for our Contact Tracers and Department of Health Staff. These conversations are vital in helping to curb the spread of the coronavirus,” they added.
Police Chief Robert Geisler provided COVID-19 updates in a Facebook video released yesterday, which is embedded above.
