“Union men and women are the backbone of Bayonne and we’re thrilled to have the support of some of the hardest working people in our state in the members of IBEW Local 827,” said Davis said in a statement.

“It’s great to see that our team’s record of revitalizing Bayonne continue to be recognized by the working men and women who we are fighting for every day, and I thank IBEW Local 827 for their support.”

According to Davis’ campaign, the Peninsula City is poised to gain approximately $2.5 billion in new real estate investment in the next several years.

This is projected to amount to an increase in local tax revenue of $10 million, allowing the city to lower property taxes, invest in important services and move towards eliminating the longstanding structural deficit and financial issues the city has faced for decades.

“Mayor Jimmy Davis and his team have put Bayonne on the path to a brighter future for all residents by attracting new investment to the city,” added Thomas Kelly, IBEW Local 827 executive board member and business agent for hudson unit 1.

“The entire Davis Team is committed to helping working families succeed and they are the right choice to continue leading this city forward.”

This marks the first major endorsement for Team Davis, with mayoral challenger Jason O’Donnell securing early support from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 and the Laborers’ International Union of North America.
