At 10:44 a.m., the Bayonne Fire Department was dispatched to an industrial accident at Global Terminals on Port Jersey Boulevard, Bartos explained.

Arriving units found a heavy-duty container lift, used to move shipping containers, tipped over onto a stack of containers. The equipment operator was trapped inside and unable to self-extricate.

Firefighters used an aerial bucket to safely remove the operator, who was transported to the Bayonne Medical Center by McCabe Ambulance with minor injuries.

“The quick and professional response by our firefighters led to the safe removal of this equipment operator without further injury or property damage,” Bartos stated.

Along with McCabe Ambulance, responding agencies included the Port Authority Police Department, Bayonne Police Department, Bayonne Office of Emergency Management, and the Jersey City Fire Department.
