Authorities probing hit-and-run that badly injured pedestrian in Downtown Jersey City

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a hit-and-run that badly injured a pedestrian this morning.

At approximately 12 a.m. this morning, the Jersey City PD was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Newark Avenue and Coles Street, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement

Responding officers located a man, later identified as a 35-year-old Jersey City resident, with serious injuries at the intersection and the striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.

The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center, where he is currently in critical, but stable condition.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City PD are actively investigating this case.
