“The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating the suspicious death of a 3-year-old child in the Jersey City Heights. More to follow,” the HCPO wrote late this morning.

They did not release any additional information as of early this afternoon, but The Daily Voice reported that “the malnourished 3-year-old was apparently rushed to the hospital with a broken bone that was left untreated, and died in the ambulance Tuesday, June 21.”

At 4:55 p.m., the HCPO tweeted some basic further details regarding the incident.

“At approximately 6:20 a.m., an unresponsive child was brought to Christ Hospital in Jersey City. The 3-year-old boy was treated by medical personnel and pronounced dead at 9:57 a.m.,” they wrote.

“The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.”
