The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department are
investigating a fire that badly injured a 79-year-old man.

Shortly after 1 a.m. yesterday, the Jersey City Fire Department was notified of a fire at 241 Baldwin Ave., Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said in a statement.
Upon arrival, first responders located smoke and fire in the basement of the residential structure.
During fire suppression activities, firefighters located an unconscious, 79-year-old man victim with serious bodily injuries.
He was transported by Emergency Medical
Services to the Jersey City Medical Center.
The victim, a Jersey City resident, was subsequently transported to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston where he remains in critical but stable condition.
The cause and origin are being investigated by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force
and the Jersey City Fire Department and foul play is not suspected at this time.
