The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has identified a 47-year-old Jersey City man who was fatally shot at Lafayette Park last night, authorities said.

Last night, the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Van Horne and Maple Streets, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.
Responding police officers found an unresponsive man with an apparent gunshot wound near the gazebo in Lafayette Park.
The man, later identified as Teyan Grant, 47, of Jersey City was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 8:45 p.m.
The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The HCPO Homicide Unit is actively investigating with assistance from the JCPD
