The City of Bayonne’s number of coronavirus patients has significantly increased since yesterday, hitting 27 before a 64-year-old man passed away at the local hospital this morning.

“Earlier today, Mayor Davis informed us of three more patients that brought us to 11 in Bayonne, and this afternoon that number has grown to 27 confirmed positive cases of Bayonne residents,” the Bayonne Office of Emergency Management said this evening.
“Also, the mayor has informed us that one of these patients has passed away. A 64 year-old male with pre-existing conditions died at the BMC this morning. The mayor, as do all of us, offer our deepest sympathy for this loss. Of the 26 confirmed cases, some are hospitalized and the rest are recovering at home. All patients are under proper isolation/quarantine protocols.”
Just a couple hours ago, Bayonne OEM announced that a drive-through testing center was coming to the Don Ahern Veterans Memorial Stadium, news that came shortly after it was revealed that a 14-year-old 8th grader tested positive for the disease.
This afternoon, the New Jersey Department of Health revealed that there have been 260 cases of the coronavirus confirmed in Hudson County to date, as well as confirming another fatality – bringing the local total to five.
To date, Bayonne and Kearny are the only Hudson County municipalities that have publicly disclosed when a resident has died due to coronavirus complications.
