“Working families need leaders at every level of government who understand their struggles and will fight for fair wages, affordable housing, and safe communities,” 32BJ SEIU Vice President and New Jersey State Director Ana Maria Hill said in a statement.

“The candidates we are endorsing have demonstrated that commitment, and our members are ready to mobilize to help elect them this November.”

Jabbour and Quintero received the backing of 32BJ in 2021, when they were running on Mayor Ravi Bhalla’s slate.

Bhalla opted to run for state Assembly in LD-32 alongside Brennan instead of seeking a third term. For the six-way June 10th primary, 32BJ went with a split ticket, backing Bhalla and Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez, as HCV first reported.

Now, they have decided to add Brennan to their list of endorsements instead of Ramirez ahead of the November 4th general election.

The union also did not endorse anyone for the third Hoboken council-at-large seat that is up for grabs in a 15-candidate contest.

Jabbour’s third running mate is Zoning Board Commissioner Steve Firestone, who is a registered Republican. While the race is non-partisan, 32BJ almost always endorses Democrats only.
