The 26-year-old Bayonne woman fatally shot in the face early this morning has been identified by authorities and the suspect has been arrested.
This morning at approximately 5:10 a.m., members of the Bayonne Police Department
responded to 484 John F. Kennedy Boulevard on a report of a potential domestic violence
incident, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.
Upon arrival, Bayonne police located an unresponsive female victim with an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim has been identified as Diamond Robinson, age 26, of Bayonne. She was
pronounced dead at approximately 5:30 a.m. at the scene. The cause and manner of death are pending investigation by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
A preliminary investigation was conducted by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit with the assistance of the Bayonne Police Department and a suspect was identified.
At approximately 5:55 a.m., Anthony Shuler, 28, of Jersey City, was arrested by members of Bayonne Police Department on East 21st Street in Bayonne without incident.
Shuler has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon (firearm) for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon (firearm) and certain persons not to possess a
weapon, officials said.
Suarez credited the Homicide Unit for the preliminary investigation and the Bayonne
Police Department with the arrest and for assisting with the preliminary investigation.
The Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Bayonne Police Department continue to
investigate this case.
