20 animals – 10 pigeons, seven goats, a duck, a rooster, and a box turtle – were surrendered from a Jersey City home today where police are actively investigating potential animal cruelty.
“Jersey City police officers responded to a call for animal cruelty at 141 Van Horne St. this afternoon. Upon arrival, officers observed goats and various birds within the property,” city spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione.
“The City is working with the Liberty Humane Society on the safe surrender of the animals. The JCPD’s investigation is ongoing.”
While she did not get into specifics, a Facebook post from LHS spells out all the animals they’ve taken in as a result of this investigation, also seeking help from a farm animal rescue and soliciting donations for temporary housing and care.
