“We’re running because we believe in the direction this district is heading—and we know there’s still more work to do. We welcome community dialogue and look forward to earning your trust,” Trustees Antonio Graña and Leslie Norwood, along with their running mate Lizy Velez, said in a statement.
The team continued that they will fight to ensure that every Hoboken child deserves access to strong academic opportunities, as well as equity in access and opportunity.
“The slate remains focused on ensuring that all students receive a high-quality education and have opportunities to pursue their unique goals—regardless of background, identity, or need,” the slate added.
Furthermore, the trio further stated that they support long-term facilities planning “to ensure the district can meet the academic and space needs of a growing student population from kindergarten through high school.”
Norwood and Graña ran under the “Leadership That Listens” banner in 2022, winning a hotly contested race 10 months after a $241 million school referendum was rejected overwhelmingly.
They ran with Trustee Alex De La Torre, who is not seeking re-election this year.
The non-partisan Hoboken BOE race is set for November 4th.

How much will the School taxes go up ?
No more surprises !
The school tax increases have been larger than the City and the County for the past several years but no one is paying attention. The fox is running the hen house, they raised taxes 15% last year and its close to 10% this year.
Luckily their we didn’t pass the 20% tax increase.
They definitely are LTD, long-term debt.
Wait, what? Is she MAGA? Because you should be pro-MAGA if you want taxes lower. The math ain’t mathing.
This slate is fantastic
The turnaround under This team plus Dr Johnson and the HPEF have made a complete 180 and put the dark days of the Raia/ Russo/ Raslowsky and Roberts to the trash heaps
