Additionally, the newly promoted firefighters will bring the total number of captains on the JCFD to 141, the largest amount in roughly a decade, officials said.

Back in 2013, with 416 firefighters, the JCFD was not able to staff four companies consistently on a day-to-day basis.

Now, with nearly 200 new firefighters added, along with a few policy changes, every company is fully staffed daily.

Those who received a new rank today are Edward M. Pickett, Bryan P. Giannecchini, Keith R. Kaufman, Kevin J. Barnas, Jeremiah S. Healy, Joseph K. Menendez, Nelson Estremera, William M. Clarritt, Joseph L. Boguszewski, Luis E. Colon III, Terence R. Cooks, Christopher Daliani and Ian R. Rooney.
