“There is some very bad news for all of the Special Interest Lobbyists and other Jason O’Donnell investors who are hoping to cash in on Bayonne,” Swibinski began in an email.

“A poll done by Global Strategy Group in June has O’Donnell down more than 20 points in his attempt to unseat Mayor Jimmy Davis. The incumbent mayor has a 56 [percent] favorable rating and leads O’Donnell by 46% to 25%.”

Swibinski, who worked on the unsuccessful Mark Smith re-election campaign in 2014, added that the poll was done by the Global Strategy Group between June 12 to June 15, where they conducted 304 interviews – with a margin of error of 5.6 percent.

A former Assemblyman and public safety director under Smith, O’Donnell announced his candidacy in an interview with InsiderNJ last week after months of speculation.

He will be hosting his formal campaign kickoff this evening at the Knight of Columbus, while Davis will host his first re-election fundraiser tomorrow evening at the Chandelier.

O’Donnell did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
