Township spokesman Phil Swibinski issued a brief statement on the situation via email.

“The Attorney General’s office obtained records from the North Bergen Recreation Department today. We have no other knowledge of this matter whatsoever and the township is cooperating fully.”

A spokesman from the state Attorney General’s Office declined to comment on the matter.

Hugo Cabrera is the Commissioner assigned to the Parks and Recreation Department.

The state Attorney General’s Office arrested employees of the North Bergen Department of Public Works on official misconduct charges back in 2012, and Frank Longo and Troy Bunero are scheduled to have their trial begin on March 17 in Bergen County Superior Court.

Mayor Nick Sacco, also the State Senator of the 32rd district, and his re-election ticket have a kickoff party scheduled for this evening at 7 p.m. at Schuetzen Park.

The North Bergen municipal election takes place on May 12, with local activist Larry Wainstein heading a ticket against Sacco.
