Don’t expect any surprises at the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders reorganization meeting tomorrow, as their regular rotation will continue when Union City Freeholder Tilo Rivas (D-6) is named chairman and North Bergen Freeholder Anthony Vainieri (D-8) is voted vice chair, sources said. Multiple county sources confirmed with Hudson County View that the game plan for tomorrow’s reorganization meeting is to continue the freeholder board’s natural rotation: which mean naming the vice chairman the new chair and making the chairman pro tempore the vice chair.

Rivas and Vainieri, the latter being one of four freeholders elected in November 2014, were appointed to posts on the board at last year’s reorganization meeting that featured officials such as U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto (D-32) and Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop in attendance.

Rivas also serves as a Union City Department of Public Works Commissioner under Mayor Brian Stack, also the state Senator of District 33, while Vainieri is a close ally of North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco – the state Senator of District 32.

In 2015, Jersey City Freeholder E. Junior Maldonado (D-4) served as chairman of the board.
