Sheriff: North Bergen man in ‘serious but stable condition’ after motorcycle crash

A North Bergen man is in “serious but stable condition” after getting into a motorcycle accident at the intersection of 76th Street and Tonnelle Avenue last night, according to Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari.

At approximately 8:45 p.m. last night, the North Bergen Police Department and Hudson County Sheriff’s Office responded to Tonnelle Avenue and 76th Street for a reported crash involving a car and a motorcycle, Schillari said.

A Toyota Highlander, driven by a West New York man, was making a left turn onto 76th Street from Tonnelle Avenue when it collided with a Triumph Motorcycle driven by a 24-year-old North Bergen man, police said.

The motorcycle driver was thrown from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. Upon police arrival, he was immediately transported by to the Hackensack Medical Center by North Bergen EMS, where he is listed in serious but stable condition, officials said.

The crash is still under investigation by The Hudson County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit and no charges have been filed at this time, authorities said.

The driver of the Toyota stopped and remained at the scene for authorities to arrive.
