“Jonathan’s track record in operational excellence, strategic planning, and high-quality patient care aligns perfectly with the mission, vision, values, and goals of RWJBarnabas Health and Jersey City Medical Center,” RWJBarnabas Health Executive Vice President and President Northwest Region Thomas A. Kyriacou recently served as the Chief Operating Officer at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, a 1,134-bed flagship academic medical center.

There, he managed several complex operational and fiscal initiatives including a $4 billion operating budget and lead a team of over 15,000 employees.

His most notable achievement at Mount Sinai was his leadership and oversight of a $750 million master capital plan, which included the design of the new Mount Sinai Tisch Cancer Hospital, and the implementation of a five-year strategic plan to expand clinical services and improve operational performance metrics.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kyriacou spearheaded the rapid expansion of temporary capacity to 1,600 beds and established large-scale testing and vaccination centers, demonstrating exceptional skill in crisis management.

He also supported the establishment of the Institute for Critical Care Medicine across the Mount Sinai Health System to improve quality outcomes and expand coverage.

Additionally, Kyriacou has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as an “Academic Medical Center COO to Know” and a “Healthcare Leader Under 40.” He has been recognized by Crain’s New York Business as a”40 Under 40″ leader to know.
