At approximately 2:20 a.m. this morning, Jersey City police were dispatched to the area of 290 Bright St. on a report of two individuals down on the ground at that location, Suarez said in a statement.

Arriving officers found Tyquan Thomas, 29, and Ashley Bradby, 23, on the sidewalk and each appeared to have been suffering from a gun shot wound, authorities said, and they were both pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 2:30 a.m.

According to the preliminary investigation, Bradby and Thomas, who had a dating relationship, were involved in a domestic dispute in a nearby residence that eventually carried out into the street.

The preliminary investigation also indicates that Thomas shot Bradby and then turned the gun on himself. A handgun was recovered at the scene, officials said.

The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case with the assistance of the Jersey City Police Department.
