On Saturday at approximately 3:00 a.m., a fatal crash occurred in the area of
Newark Avenue and 7th Street in Jersey City, Suarez said in a statement.

Responding Jersey City police officers found a female victim with apparent injuries from the crash. The victim was identified as Khalla Nguyen, 24, of Jersey City. She was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 3:30 a.m., authorities said.

The victim was the backseat passenger of the crashed vehicle, a 2000 Honda Accord.
The initial investigation showed that the car was traveling east on Newark Avenue when it made contact with a metal guardrail and then came to a stop in the middle of Newark Avenue, near 7th Street, officials said.

This marks the second fatal crash in Jersey City last week, as a 33-year-old deaf man was killed in a hit-and-run on John F. Kennedy Boulevard on Tuesday.

The Hudson County Regional Fatal Collision Unit is investigating this crash and the role of the other occupants of the crashed vehicle.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact law enforcement at 201-915-1345 or to leave an anonymous tip on the Hudson County Prosecutor’s official website at: http://www.hudsoncountyprosecutorsofficenj.org/homicide-tip/.
