Residents of the midtown area of North Bergen have experienced power outages after a car took out a telephone pole, which also led to a transformer fire, late this morning.
The embedded video above, taken by our friend at HudPost, shows a telephone poll tipping over, balancing in between power lines near the intersection of 46th Street and Smith Avenue.
Shortly after 11 a.m., North Bergen police informed residents of the midtown area that PSE&G was working on a power outage that extended between 37th Street and 51st Street from John F. Kennedy Boulevard to Tonnelle Avenue.
They also confirmed that a transformer fire created the outage, which also disrupted traffic lights in the area. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution when traveling through that part of the township.
