Police: West New York man caught with 4.5 pounds of heroin at Newark Airport

A West New York man was busted with four-and-a-half pounds of suspected heroin at the Newark Airport late Friday night after coming back from a trip to Ecuador, police said.

David Molina-Haro, 39, of West New York, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin), according to Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo.

At about 10:30 pm on Friday, August 19, Port Authority police at Newark Airport arrested Molina-Haro after he was caught with a large quantity of suspected heroin concealed in packages labeled “Café” & “Nestle Recacao” during a routine inspection, officials said.

He had arrived at the airport after a flight from Ecuador and was arrested without incident, authorities said.
